The states are the laboratories of democracy. Different states are always starting new programs or implementing new ideas, which allow other state officials to see the effects of these new ideas in action. Colorado has been very instrumental in showing the nation the effects of legalized pot. The Daily Signal released an analysis of 7 effects of legal marijuana in Colorado.
Here is the data:
The effects are wide and far reaching, most of which effect the younger generation. More kids are using pot, increased drug related school suspensions, increased college age use, more marijuana related emergency room visits, and increased hospitalization. The effects are clear. We do not want this to happen in Arizona.
The full report details the methodology and data behind these terrible effects. We need to call it how it really is: those that want marijuana just want to use it, regardless of the effects. There is much we can do to improve the negative outcomes associated with illegal marijuana use, such as decriminalization and tougher trafficking laws.
Arizona is too precious to damage. Keep marijuana illegal.
