Scottsdale recognized as start up launch pad

Scottsdale ranks eighth on DataFox’s list of best cities to launch a startup outside of Silicon Valley and New York.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal:

Scottsdale was recognized for its university partnerships between Arizona State University and the city of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale fosters deep connections between entrepreneurs, students and community members: for example, SkySong, the live-work center for resources and capital for entrepreneurs, is the result of a collaboration between the city and university,” DataFox said in its ranking explanation. “And according to Hoovers, the city boasts over 13,000 companies founded since 2010 that had at least $5 million in annual revenue.

The other cities that ranked higher on the list were, from first to seventh: Cambridge, Massachusetts; Santa Monica, California; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Boulder, Colorado; Wilmington, Delaware; Pittsburgh; and Atlanta.

St. Louis and Durham, North Carolina rounded out the top 10 after Scottsdale.
