Arizona Office of Tourism Welcomes New Director

Debbie Johnson, president and CEO of Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association to replace Sherry Henry

The Arizona Office of Tourism is undergoing a leadership change.  Sherry Henry, executive director of AOT is retiring after six years.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports:

Henry has a long history a service to Arizona tourism. She was manager of hospitality marketing for the Fiesta Bowl, executive director of the Arizona Tourism Alliance and general manager of the Fiesta Inn for more than 20 years. Henry was the first woman on the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors and its first female president.

Now, with her appointment by Gov. Doug Ducey, 20-year tourism veteran Debbie Johnson will step into the executive director role of AOT, leaving her current position as president and CEO of the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association.

Debbie brings to this role more than two decades of tourism industry experience, and is recognized statewide for the great work she’s done to market Arizona to the world,” said Ducey in the PBJ. “She is an instrumental voice for Arizona’s tourism industry and will be invaluable in this administration’s efforts to highlight Arizona as a premier place to visit, do business, recreate and retire.”
